If you are buying a new head unit, you can essentially start from scratch and make your life easier, as long as the previous owner did not splice into the factory harness. I can't tell from your pics and posts, but the wire harness from the head unit, does it have a plug on the end and is it plugged into the car's factory harness? Or are the wires all just spliced into each other, spliced from the factory harness to the head unit without use of a plug/adapter?

 

Nothing has ever been done the easy way on this car. It's all spliced in.

 

Schematics are your friend at this point.

 

Well I know the one that's hooked up currently works so maybe it will be some guide later on. I just need to see if I can resolve the memory issues/wire.

 

that yellow wire needs a constant 12 volt source to hold memory.

 

By the way, I looked and there still is the factory connector for the radio back in that hole but it just wasnt being used.

Do I need battery disconnected to rewire speakers? I don't want shocked lol. I thought this would be easy but the end of the speaker connectors need wired into the wires from old speaker apparently.

 

You won't get shocked from speaker wiring, however, it's always a good idea to disconnect the battery when working on anything wiring related, at least that is my practice.

 

I'll just leave it like it is and drive another car to pick my daughter up. I have one speaker out and hopefully my hubby will be in a helpful mood and not smart a$$. He knows I like the car better than him and well he gets jealous lol
