Default Some transmission/shifting questions.

I've had my WS6 for around two weeks now and I feel like I'm getting used to a standard transmission rather well, it's my first ever. I've been playing around with it and I've found that at times I don't even need to use 2nd and 3rd gear. However, I've noticed that when I go straight from first to third it will sort ofhop just a bit, also the same when going straight from third to fifth. I'm doing this mainly to try to squeeze as much gas mileage as I can out of the car but at the same time I don't want to hurt the transmission or clutch. Just curious if it's ok to skip gears like that and if that slight hop is normal. I've also tried shifting normally at lower RPM's but I also get that same hop I described earlier unless I rev slightly higher. Any other gas saving tips will be greatly appreciated.

ITs called engine lugging. when you shift from 1st to 3rd you are bogging the engine down andit takes the engine a few seconds to get the transmission up to speed. i dont think it causes damage to any parts, just causes a crappy ride.

i usually drive 1-2-4-6 and skip 3rd and 5th. 1 is such a short gear that the car will tend to lurch some when you shift out of it. the 2/4 shift is smoother at least imo

Conundrum under my new name:

Thanks, I've been getting used to the feel of the car and it's smoothed out for the most part. I'm getting around town fine, now I plan on taking it out to somecurvy countryroads and trying to get the feel of a more racing/sport type of driving. I appreciate the advice.
