I think that term sure does get thrown around quite loosely a lot. 15 years is used as a guideline for an older car to qualify for Antique license plates.
But following the true definition of "classic car", yours is too new and will always be too new to ever be considered a "classic car."

Classic - 15 years
Antique - 20 years

If we think about it tho how long will cars like my 4th gen camaro really be too new? Camaro went through Gen 1, 2, and 3 and changed to the "New style" on the 4th gen. Cars might make a huge change in say the 7th gen camaro making the 4th, 5th and 6th gens classics like the 1st 2nd and 3rd. You never know cars in teh 7th gen camaro era might fly .

I see it as a metter of perspective. I have a 1st gen and its considered a classic.

the 3rd and 4th gen camaro's where considered throw away cars, as in you use them and throw them away. I think it's all going to depend on the the perspective of those that were around when the cars were first produced. It will be that generation of people that will decide if it truely is a classic. And I don't think that our generation will go that way. It's just too much of a production car.

classic |ˈklasik|
adjective
judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind : a classic novel | a classic car.

sounds like a 93 z28 hardtop to me.
