I have yet to take a drive but I cleaned it up as best I can. And it is improved, I just hope gas didn't spill down the side of the tank where I can't get to.

Oh and it was basically double sides tape that was holding the plate over the trap door. I'll have to deal with that later, maybe get some bolts and some kind of gasket if they have it in this shape.

Gas dries very fast. Unless they install you pump 12 hours before you pulled the patch the puddle is not from the install. Maybe the seal around the sending unit is leaking when the gas is splashing around.

yep or one of the connections is lose or pipes got damaged. anywhere you see damp caused by gas is potential leaky spot.

Hmmm how easy is it to change this seal that is most likely leaking? I'll check again tomorrow to see if the gas comes back...is overnight long enough for the gas to evaporate again? If so I'll make sure to take a short trip and check it right when I get home.

looks like a kink in the metal line at the corner, can't really tell for sure from pic. also looks like rubber hose is not on all the way.
thing is if theres something between the rubber o ring that seals the pump mount and the metal it will not seal correctly, also if the o ring was reused and should not have been (flat or damaged) its not going to seal well. if it is a poor seal or whatever and its leaking here then it will leak worse with more gas in the tank.

Well I guess tomorrow will let us know if it's leaking from the pump/sending unit or something in the evap system?

It's confirmed. The seal around the fuel pump is leaking I can post a picture in a little bit. How do I go about changing it out?
