Default SLP Front Plate Bracket

Here is a pic of the SLP bracket I installed yesterday. It was easy to install and I think it looks better then the OEM plate holder that covers up the bowtie. The only extra thing I added were some rubber strips that keep the bracket from bending back, just in case it decides to when I'm on the HWY at higher speeds. Hope this contributes to the forum and let me know if you have any questions.

Not bad at all. I hate the stupid front plate requirement here in VA. Heck, I think the window tint laws are too restrictive. Who wants just 50% on the front side windows?

Yeah I know tell me about it. I had the windows tinted last Tuesday and the guy asked me what I wanted and I said VA LEGAL PLEASE. I got pulled over in one of my other cars because the officer thought the tint was too dark but when he measured it, I was within VA limits.

Meh, but the plate is still hangin out there though, just off to the side instead of in front. This is what I did for my old 96. Cut the height of the front plate down, cut a slit at the top, bent the top inch or so at a 90 degree, folded it slightly in the middle, and mounted it nicely in the recess. Covering the bowtie didn't bother me, having a clunky plate hanging in front did.

That doesn't look bad at all if you can get away with it. I can see the cops here writing a ticket for improperly displaying a license plate if we did that here. On the other hand, you can do almost anything to a truck and get away with it.

I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm sure there's probably a law about defacing the plates, but the cops never bothered me. Our front plates aren't dated like yours, only the backs are with a yearly sticker. Depends on your cops, that could be enough to get their panties in a wad! The top bent over portion of the plate (can't really see in pic) is the part that said "Illinois". Running with no plate is just giving the cops a reason to stop you. Technically, I had a front plate on, better than not at all for not getting stopped.

Yeah cutting the plate and fitting it in the middle looks really really clean I kinda wanted to that as well but here in VA I really don't want to chance it and get pulled over.
