Sidenote
Iam posting this because I believe it concerns us all as members of this community. I feel like the forum needs someone who controls the "quality" of the postsmore fervently.I see some really awful advice being given by members withobviously no mechanical\technical knoweldge; and I am worried newmembers will think thisforums is a complete joke, or(worse yet in my opinion) actually follow the advice. I suppose that is why peopletell youto not believe everything you read on the internet; butstill I do believe the integrity of this online forum (which I am a fan of), and ofonline forums as a whole, depends on theposterspresenting themselves as sources of informationhaving the knowledge they are immediatly assumed to have (by most new members, or those with admitted lack oftechnical knowledge). After all, the reason people seek out a forum such as this is often tohear the opinons of those more knowledgable than oneself, and it is our responsibility as posters to make surethat the information contained within our posts isvalid.I just felt the need to get this off my chest, as I have seen some horrendously wrong and foolish posts over recent months- and pretty much kept my mouth shut. Thanks for everyone's time that reads this.
LongStoryShort- If you post as a source of information, you should know what you aretalking about. Otherwise, what good is thisforum to anyone?
I agree. There are some members, which shall remain anonymous, who I feel give advice on a regular basis almost to the exact opposite of what they should do. Everyone should do some self reflecting before posting. is this something i know, or something I heard one time from that guy that dropped out of my highschool class sophmore year?
if the info is questionable at least begin with "i heard once..... but not sure".

I typicallly go by the rule of "If you don't know, don't post." Unfortunately there will always be people that post up just to get posts even if they're not sure what they are even saying, that's just the nature of a public forum. I completely agree with you guys, but without pretty heavy moderation(speaking of which there seems to be a lack of mods rooting around lately) you can't make "bad" advice go away completely.
I agree 100% and I give advice to things I've actually done myself. But if anyone catches me giving bad advice get in my @#$! about it! I feel as fellow members we have that obligation to do so. Not to intimidate or to insult but to correct and help the Camaro forum member whos asking for advise get the information they need to get the job done right the first time. And I'm spent!!
I usually try to put in my 2 cent worth whenever I see totally insane advice given as, I don't like to see someone ruining their car or wasting time and money. That being said, there are some people that are very good and much more knowledgeable about the subject than I am, and I stay out of their way. However; some others, that just don't know the difference between a bolt and a nut, go around spouting non sense. I suppose, the moderators, including myself, should be more active in correcting them.

I agree 100% but you guys have to realize that the mods alone cannot possibly see all the posts all the time. IMO the job of correcting bad info falls on the members themselves. If you a person posting bad info, speak up and correct them (try and be nice about it if possible) and if it's a chronic offender please let myself or other mods know. Remember guys, the mods have real jobs, families, etc, we can't be here all the time.
