Default Side pipes

I have a 95 firebird lt1 and I was thinking of putting dual side pipes on my car instead of a cat-back. I was going to end the pipes right before the back tire. I was wondering if there was anything wrong with this and would it pass inspection(I live in Delaware)? I dont think it will be a problem as long as i have cat's on them.

It will need alot of custom work and will give you some ground clearance issues otherwise if it has all the proper emissions components it should passs.

side exhaust only looks good on early model Camaros imo.. i thought about doin it for awhile but the body lines with the pipes wouldnt look right. asmy ringtonesong goes "I love my chevy, my chevy built last, brown candy paint, and duals out the ***"

I think that sides would look good on a third gen.. but a forth gen... eh...
Maybe with the RS [or similar] gfx and do a Roush style side exit like the 99-04 mustangs. Either way with side pipes, i think its best to be Very subtle Looking, if done too Over dramatic it can make an entire car look akward. Perhaps even use the stock z28 polished square tip.

[sm=imsorry.gif] I apologize for the sin...

I wasn't going to have the long pipes running down the side ofmy car. I just wanted the pipes to stay underneath and maybe just the tailpipe stick out right at the end...kinda like the mustang

This technically wouldn't be called "side pipes" then, but rather just "side exit" exhaust. The "side pipe" is, like you are saying, the long pipe that runs down the side of the car- think factory on late 60's\early 70'sCorvettes. What you are describing, exhaust with the exit sticking out just before the rear wheel, would just be referred to as "side exit" exhaust. FYI.

Don't do it! Although done right they can look nice but after a while the DB levels can be annoying!

well it doesnt matter, if you do true duals the DB levels will be louder, the only way to make it quieter is have the pipes either going over or under the rear axle, i personally love the sound of open headers and true duals
