Default Should I get a haynes or chilton manual for my car then.

I have a 1994 Chevy Camaro V6 3.4L Car. I will need to see If my car has a bad transmission mount along with replacing It If Its bad, which Im pretty sure It should get replaced. I also need to replace a door lock clip which will be taking off the door panel etc. I can get a haynes manual for seventeen bucks shipped online or a chilton one at orielys for twenty seven dollars or around there. Im not sure If one Is better then the other or will help more because I dont know much about cars so the manual that explains the best In simple terms would be better for me. Im trying to find out which one I need then.

I have a Haynes manual I got from the parts store, it lays things out pretty well. You can't really go wrong with either in my opinion.

I would assume they both have the same information, possibly lied out differently in the manual but no big differences.

find the local f body chapter and get in contact with them

you will find that within car enthusiast groups that there also tends to be many shade tree mechanics. For beer or dinner, many would be happy to look over your shoulder and give you some pointers

They both suck for detail, but good for the beginner.

The Helm GM Service Manuals are the best, sometimes you can find them used on eBay or Amazon for cheap. Ask me how I know.

Haynes and Chilton are alright, for the most basic of information. However, neither will show much detail for your car.

The absolute best choice is a factory service manual for your exact year and model. It will list everything and have detailed troubleshooting information for just about any problem your car would encounter. But they can be a bit pricey.

Searching the internet for sites like this one, or the SHBOX site are good resources. And as suggested, your local F-Body club will be able to share more information with you than any book. Most of the time the members would love to help you wrench on your car and show you the common pitfalls to avoid. If you have one nearby, find out what you need to do to join.
