SES LIght On
I have a 94 Z and twice within the past week I heard a dull popping sound come from the engine compartment followed by the SES Light coming on. This did not seem to affect the engine or performance and each time I turned off the ignition and restarted the car the SES Light failed to again come on. Is this something to be concerned about and if so any suggestions what it may be??
Thanks

You need to check for codes. You will need a OBD 1 scanner, Maybe a local auto parts store has one?
Pop could be a backfire, which could set a random missfire but your light should not go right back off. Could also be the Opti playing some games before it starts to get serious with out.

It did it again and this time it was hard to start. I had the opti replaced a couple of years ago and yes...it seems like the same thing is hapening now that happened when I had to replace it. Will the OBD 1 scanner verify a bad opti or is there a possibility of false readings. Im not a mechanic by any means but thought I heard that OBD 1's can be hard to read sometimes.
I managed to get the car home with the ses light on and noticed that a sound which sounded like a leaf blower was coming from the under the front middle of the hood. This time when I tried to restart the car it would not restart . Im gueessing however that ater it cools down it will start. Any chance that any o this could be a bad tank of gas? I seem to smell gas fumes much more than previously
