Security light in gauges
i bought the car with a non chipped key so first thing i did was go to the dealer. They ran the vin and made a new key but the security and air bag light will not go off. Is there a fix for this or am i just sol
First off the security and air bag lights are separate systems. If the air bags have been deployed, I believe you will have to replace the control module for it. It has a latching relay that cannot be reset.
Second, you say the car was a non chip key. If this was the way the car was when you bought it, then a previous owner must have done a VATS by-pass. Check down at the base of the steering column to see if the two wire connector going up into the column has been disconnected and a resistor added to the other half of the connector (white/black and purple/white wires).

Under the dash, on the left side of the column, just above the brake pedal. You should see an orange jacketed cable with two white conductors coming from the column, going to a black connector with a white/black and purple/white wires that go to the BCM.
