Hmmm, I had a link to a write up on my old computer going into yearly detail on the optispark. In 1994, they went with the new style opti on the B-body cars (Impala, Buick). But I recall a mention of mid-later 1994 production F body cars getting the new style opti as well. Warmeck, post a picture of the front of your engine so we can determine which one you should have.

lol, no a pic of how it is now with all the stuff (optispark, etc) removed.

Sorry, I didn't realize the earlier engine picture was of yours. Your engine uses the 1st style (92-94) opti. The picture of the back of the opti you showed in post #9 is the second (vented) style. That is not the right one for your engine, which would explain your confusion as to how it (doesn't) go on. The one you need just has a splined hole in the back, look at the old one.

in post 9 that is not my opti, its a reference i was using to show u the part i was missing. this is my new opti i bought from summit

in post #9 the metal piece was on the old opti when i removed it but i lost that piece somewhere around my house. so what your saying is could that piece that was on my old opti be the reason i was having optispark issues in the first place?

What metal piece are you referring to? I don't recall any extra pieces on my opti, but I do still have the old one to refer to. I put on an MSD unit, which is different from a stock replacement.

the metal piece in my post #9 of the reference picture that 3 leaf clover metal piece so i dont need that? it was on my old opti thats why i was confused
