Default rim question

im cleaning up my rims (salad shooters) and two of my center caps have some scratches on them. should i sand these out or would that destroy the finish? they arent very deep more just surface. im asking because the center caps are more of a plastic material as oppose to the rest of the rim

THe centers have a plastic chrome plating that will be destroyed if you sand on them. I would just look around and see if you can find a few newer looking ones and drop a few $$ for them.
