If you have an auto, just stand on the throttle and let the transmission do its job- you won't make it any faster by trying to shift and it might even slow you down.

^ as said above he is right on.

The 3.8 is known for being a good motor if you take care of it then it will take care of you.

The 1.8T is rated at 180hp and 173 ft tq. So yes i think you may stand a chance.

weve had this arguement so many times... hate to break it to you but our gas mileage if auto is only a few below you and if stick is better than yours... gas mileage is not a factor here

LS1 cars with both the 4L60 and T56 can get 21+ MPG if you keep your foot out of it. The LT1 cars with the T56 also get pretty good gas mileage just not sure on the numbers.

so we lined em up on one of my friends air stripe the distance was about a 1/4mile i think. I beat him 3 outta 4 times. only time i lost was because i didnt have my left foot holding the brake so i was delayed a little on the start. but i would beat by about a car length every time. id kill him at the start. i have found a new respect for my v6. that bad boy can go each pass was about 85-90mph. so i dont think im gonna get a v8 just gonna get some bolt ons until i do a rebuild then maybe ill do some internal stuff
