Replacing Fuel Pump..any easier way?
Hey everyone, I'm a 20 year old college student in Chico CA. Last week had my fuel pump go on my 1995 v-6. About $700 to do at the local shop. I've searched around and read in my Hanes that you mut drop the tank and lower the rear end to reach the pump. Is there any easier way? Possibly cutting a hole in the body to reach it somehow? Let me know if there is! Thanks...

Yes, you can cut a hole in the trunk area somewhere, and make a "door" to access it. Click for walkthrough...

I attempted to do the same access panel procedure on my 91. Unfortunately, all four lines to my tank are solid with no connectors at all. I didn't want to cut and flare the lines, so I wound up dropping the tank anyway. The top of the tank is very close to the body, and for safety reasons, I strongly suggest loosening the tank straps and lowering the tank just a little. I also put a water drenched towel on top of the tank for added safety.

This is good advice. I know a guy that hit the lines trying the same thing. All it did was cause a bigger mess and cost more time and money. The right way is to drop the tank and then install a panel for the future.
