Default Replacement Headlights: Advise please?

Hello and thanks for any help I get here....

I'm shopping for new headlights for my girlfriend's 2001 Camaro. Hers are yellowed. The auto parts store says they only sell the entire light assembly for about $340 PER SIDE!! I checked eBay and I see these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-99...em130191922461

Are these at least as good as the headlights they are selling for $340 bucks??

Can you give me advise on what replacement brand to purchase? Where can I get them?

I'm a Jeep girl...so this Camaro stuff is new to me - thanks for your help!

i just bought a set of halos for my 2000 camaro. Those are really nice, and you can get both lights on ebay for around 140 shipped. The one you were looking at is only for the left side.

You should be able to get replacement bulbs, from what I've read when GM went to the new style headlights you could finally replace the bulbs (93-97 you have to replace the whole thing, GM doesn't even make a bulb for it). I remember reading somewhere on here a way to clean the headlight and get the yellowing off, you may want to search for it and see what you can pull up.

Yes the cleaning thing works amazing. I had to do it to mine and I am not into spending money I don't have to. It will take you some time but in the end they will end up looking like new. You need several different grits of sandpaper starting from 400 all the way to 2000 or so. The only thing you may not have is a buffing wheel, that is how you really get the shining. If you don't have any way of using someone elses wheel you might as well just buy new ones because they would cover the cost of the wheel.
