Default Removing the rear main seal

Hey guys I need a bit of help, I need to transfer the whole rear main seal to my new 383 and in the book I have it says i need a special tool to pry it off the block after the bolts are removed. Is there any way around this? Here is a link and a picture of the thing that has to come off

http://www.pharmacy.arizona.edu/staf...RMainSeal.html

note: Its not just the seal itself but the piece that has the 4 bolts connecting it to the block as well

If I read you correctly, you want to re-use the main seal and the housing? Use the seal housing, but trash the seal. You DON'T want to use a seal from one crank to another, or it could wind up taking a leak on you.

I just wanted to use the seal housing and replace the seal, and yes it was much easier then i thought it would be I have the engine on a motor stand, turned it upside down grabed my hammer and pry bar and put the pry bar up to it and it practically fell off no hammer needed.
