Default Removing automatic shfter ****

I've got to remove daughters console (95) to find sticking problem. How do you remove the automatic shifter ****. I found the button top just pops up and off but need to remove the rest. I looked at it today when she dropped by, but had my driving contacts on so hard to see close up. Did not see or feel any set screw. Any help would be appreciated.

theres a small clip holding it in place. easiest way is to put the car all the way down in 1 and you can see it. pry it out gently with a small flathead

the clip nj speaks of looks like a big staple stuck in the front of the shifter. grab it with some needle nose pliers and pull it out. **** should come right off.

and don't bother going to the boneyard hoping to find one. Other knuckleheads who lost theirs before me beat me to the boneyard.

Ok I found the staple and got it out and all the center including spring. Thanks, BUT it will not pull off. Any tricks? I hate to pull too hard and break something. With the pin out, should it twist off or just pull straight up?
