Recycled air?

Is there a way on 4th gen Camaros to stop air from venting from the outside? I have an oil leak that is leaking on the exhaust and causing an unpleasant odor. Usually I only smell the odor when I'm at a stop light for a min or so waiting for the light to change. No where on my dash is a button or switch that lets me change from outside air vs inside only air. Any help?

The "MAX" setting on your controls recirculates the inside air. It's on page 3-2 of the owners manual that you apparently don't have: http://www.chevy-camaro.com/faq/cama...2000camaro.pdf

When I bought the car I didn't get an owners manual... I thought that might be the case and have tried it on MAX to no avail. How can I tell if the vents are opening and closing properly? Do I have to tear apart the dash?

When on the Max setting, the moving air should sound differently,. Any of my cars in that mode made it sound louder. If you cant tell or hear a difference, your blend doors might not be working.
Download the service manual and look it up there, should help for troubleshooting. 2000 is the first one on the list: My Files

I don't think even in the MAX position that the outside air is completely blocked. I have always noticed a small amount, including odors, coming in, and that has been since the car was new in 98.
And BTW, I am glad to see folks are using my manuals. aka BBR ;-)

Its the law about cars needing a certain level of fresh air in flow at all times. For some reason 7% sticks in my mind but I am not sure 7% of what how often. I would guess it nothing new and I learned about in school around 1984-85 time frame.
