Default Rattling when starting, going over bumps

Hello everyone,

I have a 2002 V6, auto Camaro. I went over a dip that I didn't see a bit too fast a few days. The next morning, when I started my car It made a rattling noise. I looked under the car and nothing looked loose. It sounds like the noise is coming from somewhere on the passenger side of the car. Also, on bumpy roads, the rattling comes and goes. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

Check the exhaust system by shaking it with all your might. Probably a broken hanger, loose shield, or the inside of the cat or muffler falling apart.

Thanks for the help. My dad told me to just take it to a mechanic. Apparently it was a transmission mount.

yah lol i was wondering how a trans mount can rattle but i think it may have been pulling the exhaust side up enough to hit the cat up aganst the body or the driveline into something.

It'd been raining and the dip was covered by water. I thought it was just a puddle...chalk it up to driving a jeep before the camaro...I was going 40 or so?

Ouch! That's not a happy...

I've had a similar rattling under my car since I got it. I never looked into it because it had so many other problems that needed fixing first, but now she's in prime operating shape except that rattle.

I'm almost 100% certain it's a tranny mount like yours was, since it mostly rattles when I'm putting strain on the tranny (like starting off in first, etc.), but I haven't had a chance to get under there yet. Christmas break starts next week for me though (God, I love being a teacher!), so I'll have plenty of time then.

When it bottomed out, I let out a very loud swear...but it's been fixed and everything is fine now. I did notice the rattling was more pronounced when in reverse as well, if that helps.
