Default ratteling

I have an 01 ss. when i am driving and the rpms are low, and i accelerate too quickly there is a rattle that comes from the engine. I also hear the same rattle on the freeway in overdrive when I step on the gas to pass someone. It only happens when the rpms are low. If anyone has any suggestions it would help, thx.

You sure it's a rattle and not detonation? Odds are your timing map is advanced a bit too far (could be from a bad temp sensor or something)causing detonation. Basically, all your fuel burns before the piston reaches top dead center, it's sort of like whacking a rising piston with a hammer. Its hard on wrist pins and kills fuel efficiency.

I think I know what you're talking about man, My car does the same thing around 1000 rpm, (96 LT1) mine sounds more like it's coming from the trans/ clutch though. its kind of like a rattle/grind. sound familiar ?

Doesn't sound good -- better check your trans fluid and consider a filter/flush and replace w/Dexron 6 (not 4)...

With regards to the rattleing at low RPMs while accelerating CHECK YOUR PLUG WIRES. This has happened to me three times and every time it has been a spark plug wire (My headers like to melt them even with fiberglass booties). When you try to accelerateat low RPMs everything will shake and rattle especially the transmission, my 6spd will shake all over the place. Every time its one spark plug wire that has melted or broken. All three times it's been hard to tell there is a miss the big clue is everything shaking under acceleration. After I found and replaced the broken wire everything has been better.
