Exclamation Random Mileage

So, when I am in Huntsville for breaks from school, I can get 24 MPG city from my Camaro (which is pretty awesome). When I'm in Greenville, for school, it drops like a brick! I get 18.7 MPG city. I don't drive any different, nothing on my car is broken, and I've added an SLP air lid.

What in the world would account for losing a little over 5 MPG?

Hillier terrain (harder hill climbs) perhaps?

Different brands of gas? More ethanol in it? I knowo I lose up to 2 mpg just going from 93 to 89 octane.

Oh, I bet I know what it is. They embed high powered magnets into the street, so it drags your car down, and lowers your mpg. It's a conspiracy to get the local gas stations to sell more gas.

I have a feeling there's a joke in there somewhere!
Seriously tho Art, you would need to log your miles, and record what kind of driving/how long you're sitting still. You probably know better than us as to what the difference may be, but you might not know you might know, you know?

69, I sure hope it's not the magnets! Next they'll be following me in black helicopters too...

BC, I usually end up driving down Wade Hampton. While the traffic on it isn't terrible, the timing of the lights is. I always have just enough time to get up to speed before I get to stop again. :/

I kinda figured it was probably just Greenville being ridiculous, but I'm glad to know there's not some crazy thing gone wrong with my car.

Saw PennDot doing that when they redid our city's main highway. I didn't understand it at first as to why they add these huge magnets, but I wasn't about to question PennDot and all it's intelligence. Makes perfect sense though, the car did seem a little bit slower than usual.

Quality of gas can be a big factor. I normally buy from Sunoco, but recently have been getting from GetGo instead since it's about $.05 cheaper for 93. I've noticed ~1-1.5 mpg difference. If you use Sheetz, I recommend you start going some where else. Sheetz quality sucks. Also, never ever buy gas from a station that has the tanker filling the underground tanks up, that is a no no.
