Usually it is just a matter of unbolting the fuel rail from the manifold, disconnecting the fuel lines from the rail. and lift the rail and injectors out of the holes. They are only set in with friction from the O-rings. Make sure you use a little WD40 or other light oil on the O-rings when you put them back into the manifold.

Are your fuel lines going to bind somewhere, or are you changing fuel rails? On fuel rails/injectors that I've removed before, I've always just popped them up and out and left the fuel line connected. Also, don't forget to relieve the fuel pressure at the schrader valve first so you don't flood the cylinders with gas.

im taking out the injectors to be cleaned and flow tested. i figure the rail has too come out. is it possible to just lift off the rail enough to get the injectors?

^ Yea you can do that too. I found on my 3.8L it was easier to put the injectors on the rail then into the engine. It just worked out better that way.

with ls1 and the tight space your best pulling the whole rail, literally undo the 4 bolts and lift the rail off

(check out ls1howto ls6 monifold swap and follow injector removal bit)

when your rail with injectors is out just leave it connected to fuel line but pull the clips off all injectors (watch as they spring off) and remove the injectors, make sure you get the O rings though as they are really tight injector to rail, and as the others said, to install put some wd40 or something on to slip them back in

Take it car is still running bad???
