i removed the radiator from my camaro and when i cleaned it out it looked real dirty brown can someone tell me what this may be .

 

Old antifreeze probably someone mixed the OEM Dex Cool with green colored stuff and it all turned into mud. Have radiator boiled out or replace it, and flush out all coolant from engine block & heads.

 

Yes it has overheated before I'm replacing cuz I was fixing to flush and went open the drain plug and the the plug broke

 

my coolant looked the same when I bought it, looked like mud, I flashed out the entire system and put Prestone 50/50, I know GM says to use DEX Cool but ive have a few friends tell me Dex cool blew head gaskets, and this was told to them by a machine shop. Ive never had a problem using prestone 50/50.

Houston... Does your oil look like it's milky?

 

No not at all it looks dark and thick

 

houston, just flush the system, what I did was grab a garden hose, popped off the lower rad hose, removed thermostat and removed the rad plug, i ran water through the top of the rad until it was clear, then ran water through where the thermostat sat until it ran clear out the bottom rad hose.. and dont forget to remove the reserv and clean that out too.
Once I did that, put everything back together, put almost 3 gallons of Prestone 50/50, and dont forget to release the steam from the valve on top of the thermostat housing, or else you will be over heating and causing damage, keep your eye on the temp gauge make sure it does go past normal temp.
My coolant looks nice and fresh been more then a week now. Hope this helps

I just made this horrible mistake, felt like total dumba** when it turned brown. I live in MN and currently I can't run a garden hose through mine, Im not driving it, will it hurt it to leave it until spring? If it will I will take it to local shop and have them flush it good for me.
