Questions about my new ride!

So I used to have a 01 3.8 and just yesterday I bought a 02 5.7. COOL RIGHT?!?!
Anywho... It's a Z28 with a 6 spd. I feel like the throttle response is kinda bad. I'm pretty sure the throttle response was better on my V6. Is that right? Or is there a problem? Because I've never had a V8 so I didn't know if that was a naturally occurring thing. Also my V6 had headers and a high flow cat and a race muffler and a CAI and my new V8 has only has a lid and a KandN and a Magnaflow catback. I don't know if that has something to do with it.
Also... on the same topic kinda... when I rev it up (In neutral) I feel like it takes a looooooong time for the RPM's to come back down to idle. Is this normal? Or once again is there something wrong?...
Thanks

well, there is a lot more rotating mass on a v8 than a v6. so it should take ever so slightly longer to decrease. same goes to the trottle response but once you get going that LT1 or LS1 whichever it be should have much more power, acceleration, and top end than the v6

This is normal as far as I know. My wife has the Z I have the 3.8 and my little engine is snappier than hers is. She will chew me up and spit me out at the track sure but my engine has quicker response than hers does. From my research and what I have learned about the 3800 engine is the SGS or Second Gear Start was added to the transmission program because of the quick and snappy response the 3800 has. If you have no codes then I would not worry about it unless it gets worse or you get codes.

I guess the throttle response isn't too bad. What worries me now is that when I'm coasting my RPMs stay high for a long time.
Lets say I'm driving in 4th gear and ahead I see the light changes to red. So I'll press in the clutch and shift into neutral. The weird thing is... instead of my tach needle dropping down to idle... it stays about 2000 RPMs until I come to almost a complete stop. I've seen it say there for like 10 seconds. That doesn't happen all the time... but most of the time. And that doesn't seem normal to me. What do you think?
