And for others, there's one thing I can't stand more than anything, its someone telling me what I'm doing to MY car is pointless. I find that somewhat offensive and otherwise a form of v6 hatred. I came here to ask whether or not it was a good idea to put an x/h pipe at the front of my exhaust system. I did NOT post in order to have people tell me that my ideas are useless. Guess what, next I'm gonna put up a post on the best way to put a leaf blower on my intake tube to make use of those "useless" true dual exhaust pipes. (not really)... I'm proud of my car and I have plans for it. When it's done, I should have factory LT1 power out of a 3.4/3400 hybrid.

 

 

Hey, if you want to go true duals, have at it. Against a comparably sized single tube system, duals won't really give you a power advantage, but it will give you a different exhaust sound. I was asking about the rear pipe routing, curious if one of the two pipes that will be exiting the left side of the muffler will have clearance to do a whoop-de-do to double back for the right side tail pipe. Here are some inspirational pics that I had on file from my 3rd and 4th gen days, muffler delete though. I never went that route, but would have if I had installed headers. With the older vintage cars, performance exhaust meant dual pipes, one on each side. These cars have more clearance issues, and it's easier to tuck one pipe up there than two. The double outlet muffler on the Z28 gives the "look" of dual exhaust, to keep performance minded people happy.

Yeah this is kinda interesting to me, what is the shop quoting you on this job? I almost got into a fight with 4 different exhaust shop desk representatives since they all laughed at me about putting true duals on my 4th gen after they refused to do so. I think it is cool that your doing this, just make sure to have the cats even if they are a bit pricey for new hi-flos :/

 

And that's another reason why I asked, in case that's what was in mind. With that, you're going to have two opposite pipes, pushing against each other where they intersect. Does the shop really think that's an efficient flow design? I don't.

 

All together with the muffler, tips, cats, piping, x-pipe, and labor, they said $920

 

Camaro69, we looked at the inside of the muffler and it looks like 90/90 at the crossover. Should be okay
