Actually, I think the cars went a facility near the assembly plant in St. Therese for the SLP modifications after 1995 and were then sent back the GM plant for shipment to the dealers.

Here's some history taken from SLP's successor's, Specialty Vehicle Engineering's web page. Link to the web page.

In 1986, Ed Hamburger founded the company that is now Specialty Vehicle Engineering. Our mission was to provide late model Camaro and Firebird owners with a complete selection (One-Stop-Shopping) of “Street Legal Performance” products that would enhance the performance, handling and fuel economy of their cars.

In 1988 we introduced the Performance Parts Industry’s first “Emission Legal” performance package for the new Camaro/Firebird that led to a formal relationship with GM’s Performance Parts division, enabling performance enthusiasts to purchase our products directly from any GM dealer throughout the country.

1991 represented the next milestone in our exciting 27 year history, when GM approved our request for our first specialty vehicle program, the 1992 Firebird-based Firehawk. All 1992 Firehawks were built in our Toms River facility and delivered to Pontiac dealers throughout the country.

In 1995 Chevrolet approved our Ship-Through specialty vehicle program, based off the 4th Gen Camaro Z28. They also allowed us to use one of the most hallowed names in Chevrolet’s history, the Camaro SS. In 1996 we introduced our first Camaro SS to the automotive world and received rave reviews for its stunning performance, handling and appearance.

Over the next eight years we produced over 65,000 GM specialty vehicles out of our 140,000 sq ft. Montreal-based assembly facility, for GM and its Chevy and Pontiac dealers. They included the Camaro SS and RS models, along with the Firebird-based Firehawk, WS-6 and Comp T/A models. In August of 2002, GM ended production of the 4th generation Camaro/Firebird, along with our Camaro SS and Firehawk programs.

Price on 4th gens are getting very hard to nail down since they are dropping so fast. The 4th gen is quickly become like the 3rd gen was 10 years ago. No one seems to want them. Heck I have been seeing SLP solid rollers that have been stripped of their engine and transmission because it is one of the cheapest ways to get a LS1/T56 combo for hot rod projects. I have a friend that was trying to get rid of a 98 Ls1/6 speed over the winter he had no real interest at the 8k mark, no one even looked at it. Car had 6k worth of upgraded parts including a forged stroker kit.

Well.....to bad he doesn't live here.Thats pretty much what i'm looking for. Right now anything that look nice(not raged out) has a V6. The other cars that I've found show up on car fax as a auction/lease car with 150K up. I might to picky but....... I would rather buy from a individual not a dealer of some kind

it takes time to find one but you will an may have to traval for it ,some think there car is worth more #1 couse its a Camaro that will be classic in a few years an 2 couse its an le1 #s car, after that who knows why guys are asking 5k for a car with 150.000 miles oh its got the ls1 set up ,but in reality those cars sit for a long time before they sell unless someone does not mind paying there higher price ,but one will come along an you got to get right on it ,in certain parts of the north east there are a ton of them selling for the prices you see me talking about ,so there also out there in other places too ,there are few places they go for more ,winter seems the best time late fall for sure ,some think the lt1 is rare now ,an it may be one day but there are a lot of them out there too 93-97 cars with low miles

ok in appling 2001 z28 88.000 miles if you could get it for 6k that might be ok ,then if you go to 94 z28 lt1 engine theres one 59.000 miles $6500.00 if you could get that down to $5500.00 there is a deal marrieta ,these are all craigs list cars in Atlanta area, you are right about there not being a lot of them out there but that 94 ,I would check out ,though you want an ls1 check out the 2001 ,but I see cars there 129,000 miles like 3800 for an ls1 car ,I am just the kinda guy that why pay more then I should I would look at one of those 2 ,an you will see as the seasons change more of the ls1 cars for sale when you search for cars there you can choose places like macon Augusta 98 ls1 100200 6k food for thought, another example is 2001 z28 144.000 miles $2500.00 2k is reasonable for a car with those miles to many are asking retail an above but there out there below retail an lower Jacksonville ,hope it helps that there out there ,summer right now there driving them fall will bring more,an one more is alanta monroe 2000 ss 109.000 miles $6500.00 ls1 6 speed hard top there are rare cars too

you want 98-02 ls1 or you want the 02 le1 then you will pay more for that one car. that 94 with 59k was a good deal if you could get them down to 5k you right about many high miles ones covertables wich I don't like myself all high miles an a ton of v6 cars ,yes in your area the best deal I see is the 94 z28 with 59k this car you could get many good years out of then convert it to ls an otherwise its slim pickens ,I would think about searching north an west of Atlanta AL NC,i do see a lot of fairly clean 77 to 81 Camaros for better prices then you will seen up hear ,a lot you can do with a clean 2 gen
