Hey, just wanna know what some of you guys have been charged for some upgrades and how much you paid to get them installed.

Im looking to get flowmasters put into my 97, I can get whole system i want for about $400, how much you think (or how much did you pay) for them to be installed. Or, do you think i should do it myself? Im not a professional mechanic but i know quite a bit about welding and cutting. You think i should just install it myself or go to a profession shop?

 

I've heard that flowmasters suck (nickname: "blowmasters"), so shop around. I was asking around some local exhaust shops, and pretty much all of them estimated between $400 and $500 for a true-dual setup (that's installed, including mufflers, cats, and tips). Install it yourself. A catback is very easy to install as they give you all the new hardware you need (hangars, clamps, etc). Installing my Magnaflow catback was the second thing I did to my car, after a SLP CAI, installed it myself with the help of a buddy.

 

Well ive noticed that magnaflows are a lot more expensive than flowmasters. Ive always been a fan of flowmasters actually, i like the sound. My dad has magnaflows on his corvette and its more of a deeper mono sound. I like more of the rumble sound, but what other exhaust systems would you recommend? I have about $400-$500 to spend.

 

you defiantly need to go with the flow-master its the best sounding system on the market says most people

 

I have the flowmaster. I am thinking of getting the Magnaflow. THe flowmaster do not sound as nice at the higher RPMs as they do with the V8s. They hace a ricer sound to them. THey do sound nice at the lower RPMs.

The Magnaflow can be found for $450 or so. Flowmasters reputation on performance isn't great; Magnaflows, however, is pretty damn good. I also have to agree with Gorn. I liked the sound of the Flowmasters at idle, but once you get on it, that V6 whine shines right through and sounds bad in my opinion.

 

Ah i understand what you are getting at. Is there anything else i could consider besides Magnaflows or Flowmasters?

 

Also, which which cold air intake you think i should get. the SLP or the K&N?
