Is this a Precursor or a Sign of a Transmission Problem looming in the future?....
Hello, group members,
At drive waiting for green (with my foot on the brake) I then when the light changes to Green, I slam gas pedal, hear a 1-3 pops, depending on how hard I...
hit the accelerator / gas pedal
what is this?
Does this mean something is wrong with my differential?
or driveshaft?
This is only a problem, if I slam the gas hard from drive when I release my foot off the brake
So is this something where--the old adage, if that's what happens then don't do it"?
OR...
Is this a waiting problem that could get very pricey and worse?
I really want to avoid screwing up the transmission....
I added trans. fluid so that's all good...no need to add transm. fluid.
if not nipped in the bud or stopped at its incipency?
Any constructive evidence would be appreciated.
Thanks, again

i said or asked can u give me a general idea based on your experience....? he said kinda gruffly-u tell me??? it could be a drive shaft a differential?... i dont know
i mean i have a free diagnosis next monday,
but hopefully it is not a pricey repair
does this sound like a transmission mount busted?
which is a kind of inexpensive repair

That's a hard description. A "pop" sound could be nearly anything. Does it do it if you apply light or moderate throttle from a stop? Is it possibly the exhaust popping from the engine running rich? It could be a trans or engine mount worn. Could be a bad u-joint (though this is usually more of a clunk). There's literally hundreds of things that can go "pop".

MK Coconuts: You're totally right it is a CLUNK....made more Pronounced and Louder depending on the Degree to which I slam on the accelerator
*I read somewhere that Common sense is that if a driver wants to drive a sports car fast, they're supposed to work up to that speed ---slowly and that most problems with cars is from accelerating too fast
The medication I'm on made me throw common sense out the window lately....
I've been babying her too long
What I do is take off my foot off the break pedal when the light turns green from red and then slam on the gas pedal
I hear a Clunk right in front of the P N D2 D1 gear shift
It's 1 clunk when I slam the gas pedal just fast and hard
It's 2-3 "clunk" sounds when I slam the gas pedal Super FAst and Extra hard
Otherwise, I do not hear it
I'm wondering how long I can go without something totally stalling it, if at all....
like I said, it's like the old adage, "it hurts when I turned my head right fast, and then the old wives tale reply is..well don't turn your head too fast." or something to that effect
Thank you everyone for your input.....

Imagine the worse case scenario:
a Trans mount is busted
It has damaged both (there are only 2 motor mounts) motor mounts
At 1 hour of labor and parts $25 for a 1993 auto. transmission mount
and $70 for a pair of Motor mounts---
what would be the cost at like $50 an hour labor?
It should not cost more than $200 right?
I would have to go to a cheaper mechanic (like a Mobile Mechanic) than the standard $90 an hour mechanic repair shop mechanic who has to pay high repair shop rent each month.
and I'm in dire straits as this is a problem that requires immediate attention (in other words, even though the annoying clunk sound happens when i slam on the gas pedal, this car should not be driven at all)
any estimates would be greatly appreciated
if i did this myself--assuming i knnew how and it was zero dollars per hour labor, it would just cost me parts and could be done for as low as $100 right?
again we're assuming the trans mount has busted and it has gotten to the point of ruining the 2 motor mounts.
thanks again.

Yeah a trans mount sounds like alrighty, doesn't necessarily mean the motor mounts are bad but probably a good time to replace them anyway.
Your car is a V-6 auto right?
Here's a kit on ebay for $40.99 and free shipping that has all three mounts.
Probably a couple hours labor so add that in.

motor mounts are tough, hard to bust, i have seen them sag and let the engine drop a bit, enough to make my 7qt pan hit the steerting rack just enough to feel it on my steering.

Yes, it's v-6 auto. trans.
thanks so much for your help and going the extra mile to help me, Y2-K. I will buy name brand motor mounts and have them replaced by a less expensive than a repair shop mechanic.
