Default Power windor rivets loose on 2000 SS convertible.

I replaced the regulator several years back. It seems the pop rivets are loose, as I see all of them moving when I raise lower the window
how should I fix these?
I am concerned if I replace the rivets, I will end up in the same situation.
Can I se screws? I a not sure wht the use rivets ibstead of screws. I screws are OK, what size if you know? I would like to be prepared before I drill the old rivets.
Thanks!
Mc

The only reason you may not be able to use a nut and bolt is because you can not get you hand in behind it. Even factory kits for other models use nuts and bolts. I would not use screws in a composite door. Like anything else the quality of the rivet is important. I would see if the factory rivets are available. Even the heat-treat/aging process is critical for rivets and that is assuming they used the right grade of material.

check to make sure the holes are not rounded out from being lose. dont use screws or bolts. previous owner used bolts on my 2000 and they loosened up and rounded the holes out so bad I had to repair using fiberglass and a metal washer for 1/4 in bolt inbeded in it so it would not round out. still working great. you do have to use large rivets that require a large size tool to install. I bought one and have used it 4 times. lol. if I remember right stock rivets are 1/4 inch rivets.

Sorry I did not take into account non-metal doors. Using bolts was how GM regulator kits where done back in the day.

If you use the right "peel" rivets and they will not come loose
Look for actual window regulator rivets at a body and paint supply store
Bolts and nuts come loose, that is why the factory used rivets
Big Daddy riveter, the right rivets and you're done

Thanks all!
The last rivits I used were window reg rivits.
I did get sime bolts and locking nuts
I guess I will try the rivits again based on what I am hearing!

Thanks,
Mc
