Default Position of Pump in Tank

Awhile ago I changed my fuel pump. I can not seem to get it in the tank properly. & when I feel like I get it in the correct way, the fuel float seems to be stuck.

Any tips ? I am at a loss and I've taken the dang thing out like 8 times haha >.<

This is the pump:

I just pulled it out some and I can tell that it is slightly to the right so the float is stuck on the "ledge" inside the tank.. Maybe I should bend the unit a little bit so it sets properly. or I should use the warranty and get a new one and maybe just get my money back... ffs haha

How did the new pump look to the old one? There were 2 different tanks used in the 4th gen cars and the pumps may not be the same between the tanks.

The new pump:
The float is flat not round.
The plastic housing for the pump is a little bigger.
It seems to be slightly more slanted to the right. maybe an inch or two.

Inside the tank.. the opening where the pump sits *kinda* looks like this --> |---___-|

The float seems to sit on top of the "ledge" |(---)___-| Ledge= part in ()

which causes it to not go down and tell me I have 3/4th tank of gas.

The pump works. The float works. It just gets hung up in the tank.

Would you know how the two tanks differed?

I bought the pump on January 31, 2013.. have a 1 year warranty

What do you think (in your honest opinion)
---Should I try and get my money back.. or just try and bend the arm that holds the pump slightly so it clears the ledge ?

what engine you got. rock auto shows that pump fits the 95 with the 3.8 or 3.4. 5.7 shows a 3808

I have a 3.4.. s;

I compared it to the old pump and it wasn't bent at the top before the spring

So I bent it to match and it went in a lot easier.. D: I have a full tank of gas at the moment so ill have to wait to see if it goes down any.

i wonder if it got bent in shipping, wouldnt be the first time. you may have the 16 gal tank instead of the 15 gal one. seems like the first three years of the 4th gen were transition years. lol. end up with whatever parts they could come up with.

The box looked like crap when it showed up. lol. It is running great (as great as a 3.4 v6 can run haha). yeah, I wonder why Chevy decided to go with such weird tanks D:
