i am having an mental meltdown i have an 96 chevy camaro and it will not crank for nothing in the world i have no ideal what can be wrong with it PLS HELP ME i recently replace the cylinder lock switch bc it was screwed, plus replace brand new keys, plus purchase an used engine (which runs fine for $600) 3800 seriesII.......when i go to plug my battery up and procedd to start the car my horns just goes off forever until i disconnect my battery the dealership says its my bcm is missing....i need help i dont know an cheaper route than to speed $800.00 for something that could be so simple

oh yeah i forgot to mention that i cant even get the car out of gear what can be wrong, i had an very good mechanic replace everything above after he finish he gets the car started for 3sec. by poking the starter with an screwdriver than it shuts right back off within 3sec. ???? pls help me i miss my green ghost camaro

 

What you're describing, sounds like the security system (VATS)preventing the start. The ignition key has a resistor "pellet" in it. When in the ignition, the car sees whether you have the right key or not (via the "pellet"). If youhave the correct pellet, it will start, if not, the fuel injectors won't fire and, I believe the starter won't work either. Have your mechanic make sure the key is right.

 

yes the sercuity anti theft is blinking rapidly and then the factured alarm goes off when i stick the key into the ingtion and turn to On

 

i had had the dealership GM cut me the key from my orignal "vin number" and brought an new igntion key tumbler with correct key measurementnow what is there to do
