Default PLease Help!

My back tires are rubbing on the fender when I have people in my 1996 3.8 camaro. It mostly happens when I go over a bump. My car has been lowered, i think someone heated the shocks, so nothing extra was done. I have wide tires about 8 inches and corvette rally wheels and they stick out over my fender. How can I solve this problem as well as prevent the car from scraping period? thank you!

Check and replace your bumpstops if necessary. Also, what shocks do you have, and what do you mean they are heated? How many miles on the car and miles on the shocks? Could also be you need new shocks.

Find some skinnier friends! Really though, with the tires extending beyond the fender openings, expect it to drag with a load in the back. New springs might help, if the life on yours is worn out. Shocks don't limit total suspension travel, but they do limit how fast or easily the car can bottom out. Keep in mind that you would want your car set up to be the way you like it for the majority of driving you do. Do you drive empty more of the time, or are you running a cab service?

I dont carry alot of people in my car but when I do I dont want it to break lol. Having a nice car id like to show it off to others. it only has 136,000 and its a 96. That isnt too old to need new shocks is it?

when i say heated I mean they probably took a torch to the springs so they arent as stiff. And they most likely over heated them but idk. The bump stops are wore Out i noticed. But will they make that big of a difference?

Your friends must be like 3 feet tall to fit in that back seat.

Replace the bumpstops if they're trashed. (photo?)

If you have the stock OEM shocks (orange) at 136k, you DEFINITELY NEEDED NEW SHOCKS a long time ago! The weakest link on 4th Gens' suspension is the shocks. For lowering springs, you want Koni SAs.

these guys are all correct, it sounds like you need a set of springs and shocks in the rear BAD.

You can always look into a bilstein replacement, they work fantastic and are a bit cheaper than the Konis
