Default Platinum Plugs?

My '96 SS just turned 50k miles, and im pretty sure it needs new plugs. I plan on keeping this car stock for the most part. Is there any advantage, besides lasting longer, of getting some goodplatinum spark plugs as opposed to regular AC Delco plugs? Will it run better or the same?

The Delco plugs in your car are already platinum tipped and are good for 100K miles. If you are going to replace them and you have no major mods, stay with what the factory put in.

from what ive heard changing out to more expensive plugs isnt really worth it unless your going all out on everything. id go with what pete says and stick with the ac delcos and if you do decide to get new ones other than those do not get bosch plugs as they are not good for your engine - they are meant more for the imports and from what ive heard they can mess up your heads pretty bad

My 96 3.8 has over 160k on it and I just replaced my plugs today. I went with the NGK Iridium plugs and the Bosch 7mm wires. I wanted the MSD 8.5mm wires but Auto Zone was out of them. The reason I paid $8 a piece for the iridium plugs is because I plan on putting some major mods on my car. Including a 50 shot of NOS eventually after I get some engine work done. If you really plan on tricking your car out I would go with iridium plugs. I mean after all it is an SS!!!
