Thermostat is a valve that keeps the coolant from flowing until the coolant warms up to 195 degrees. They can "stop opening" and cause the car to over heat quickly. Without a thermostat your can would take forever to warm up in the winter.

most of this is easy to replace thats why this is do it yourself forum ,a top hose is $30.00 tops ,easy to install like minutes,an a little anti freeze ,a guy that charges 110..00 for a top hose ,you dont want to go to,give one good shop enough work bring them a hose an most would pop it on for nothing
