PCM to ICM? 98 3.8L

does anyone know how to check if the PCM is sending signal to the ICM? also is there a way to display trouble codes on the digital mileage display?

pretty sure u have to have a scanner. mybe pete will come back on checking the voltage to the ignition modual.
