Default parasitic drain-courtesy light fuse

I have a 1995 convertible that seems to have a parasitic drain. If it sits for a week or so the battery will be dead. I checked it with an amp meter between the battery and NEG cable and it reads 0.16. If I remove the courtesy light fuse (#8) it goes down to 0.00. I checked all the interior lights and nothing is on. It appears that this fuse also feeds the RAP, Keyless entry and Theft Deterrent Modules. I removed the RAP and Keyless entry modules and that didn't fix it. I'm trying to locate the Theft Deterrent Module but the diagram in the shop manual is rather vague. Does anyone know what I have to remove to access it. Is there anything else I should check.

Thanks,

John

double tripple check the interior lights, i had a light on the mirror that was on by its switch on the mirror and i could not see it till i turned the light to the garage off at night. lol. anyways you have one in the glove box, center console, two on mirror and one on the roof by the hatch. if you have a light under the hood i am not sure what that would be wired to. ok anyways have a look at shbox and see what pictures are in the component views 4th Gen LT1 F-Body Tech Aids

Thanks for the reply. Like you I checked it in the garage with the lights off. I also removed the bulbs from the console and glove box. The rear view mirror lights go out as they should when the doors are closed. The manual says there's a light in the trunk on a convertible but I haven't been able to find any.

It turned out to be the radio. The courtesy light fuse supplies power to it all the time. Is it normal for the radio to draw that many amps just to keep the clock and presets alive. It's the stock Delco AM/FM/CD player.

My '02 SS has shown 0.016 amps.
I'm sure you measured correctly and read meter correctly.

Thanks for the info. I have my meter on the 10a scale. It appears to be drawing 160ma and not 16 ma as your car shows.

Have you tried locking the Camaro with the fob and view amps drawn?
As I stated, when mine was unlocked, 0.085 amps, after locking with fob, 0.016 amps.
Does your meter have a lesser scale?

I haven't tried locking it to see if it makes a difference. I'll give it a shot. I'll also put my meter on the 200ma scale and see if it reads the same. I'm also going to do a millivolt test right at the courtesy fuse and see what it shows.

I tried different scales on my amp meter and it still reads the same. I also did a mV test at the courtesy fuse and with the radio unplugged it reads 0 mV. With the radio plugged in it reads .5 mV which equates to 104 milliamps. That still sounds too high. Locking the car with the key fob made no difference.
