Default Panasonic CD Faceplate not reading unless keep pushing the circle dial or sometimes--

Hello, members, I hope all is well with you

I have this recent problem,

My Camaro's Panasonic CD Faceplate not reading unless I keep pushing the circle dial or sometimes...unless I Pull off the faceplate and reinsert it back on

I never manhandled the CD faceplate, I was always gentle with it

There's no info. at all on Youtube or on google on what to do if this happens

1 thing I came across is that the fixture to which the faceplate is attached might get worn from taking off the faceplate & putting it back on through the years

I cleaned it with q-tips both the fixture and also the actual panasonic faceplate

I want to avoid taking this to a mechanic or to a Car Stereo store

I guess I can get away with doing the pushing hard and pulling out and re-inserting, but at some point it will get worse and worse to the point, it won't work at all and might suck the energy out of my car battery
so I want to launch a pre-emptive strike, do something proactive, preventitve medicine, if you will

What do you members suggest I do?
Buy another Panasonic CD faceplate from Ebay and hope it works much, much better than the existing one I now have?

Thanks in advance
oh, the youngin's use T.I.A. (thanks in advance) LoL

they will know things that i will never know
what a wonderful world

Oh, why won't i get an upgrade to an mp-3 player or something similar

I must have 1,000s of rockabilly music, late 50s/early 60s rock n roll, surf music, punk rock music / psychobilly audio CDs

I want to play all these many CDs every so often, on my car's CD player otherwise they serve not much purpose as youtube has these songs available at home on my laptop

thanks, again.

I took a mechanic friend who is a former neighbor's advice

i took a brand new toothbrush, and gently scuffed the connectors on the cd faceplate and the cd fixture in the middle of the car

easing the faceplate onto the fixture and pressing the far left band function so that it goes subwoofer and then loudness and from there increasing the volume seems to for the last 2 days made a positive difference where I don't have to remove & attach the CD faceplate or push hard on the circular dial in order to get it to read or light up with the CD song # or volume

So, there was a happy ending to this story

Have a Happy Healthy Thanksgiving everyone
