P1441 and p0430: 96 Z-28
Hi all, Im a proud owner of a 1996 camaro z-28. Finally on the road after 8 gruelling months of multiple repairs. Love the car, only one problem that has me on the loops. If I drive the car and the tank goes below a half, MIL illuminates and I get two codes, P1441 and P0430. O2 sesors were already replaced. If I clear the codes, fill the tankand drive, the light will not come back on until I reach below a half tank. Anyone have a similar problem? I was thinking possibly a vac leak, but not sure if both codes are related. Its just Ironic that both codes come on when the car goes below half a tank. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much all.

oh. i was gonna say, mine did that, but it was because i had 2 holes in top of gas tank, from mounting sub box. (i didnt do it). i dont know the code, but it was auxilary emissions. took me forever to figure out what it was. plugged the holes and it stopped doing it.

I didn't replace the right cat, because its not glowing, car isnt bogging, and runs like a champ. I had to replace the left cat because it was glowing cherry red. I purchased this car from an auction about 8 months ago, and this is what was replaced- left cat, all o2 sensors, plugs, wires, and opti(that was a pain), waterpump, radiator-BeCool, air filter, fuel filter, gas cap, coolant temp and level sensors, egr valve, alt, belt, and iac valve. The car was a mess, good thing I did all the work myself with wholesale parts prices, otherwise I would have went beyond broke.

Right now it is complaining that the right side cat is not working. Probably got contaminated, but it is not clogged, so the car will run OK but cause pollution. I see no relationship with the two codes, but the may be a tie in with the EVAP and the 1/2 tank, pinched or misplaced hose, or some other silly thing with the vapor control system.
