Overheating and Not at the Same Time, asap help needed please
Craby, I officially pronounce you the camaro god. I cant believe it, but it worked. I think you might want to make this a sticky honestly. This might be rare, but if it does happen to anyone else, they need to know to go put their car on a hill. haha. Thank you so much!
My girlfriend says she is glad that you guys are around too. Now she can actually make it back to college. She says thank you as well.

wish I did. once i have a spare $400 I will. but right now i dont. everything is working well so far. Im going to keep pulling the cap before I start it for a few days and make sure it doesnt have air and need to be filled still.
Im thinking I need to do a pressure test. Its still doing it and after a while it will lose coolant. not only that but i can drive for an hour and a half about at normal temp. then all the sudden the heat will go cold, and the temp goes up over 200. keep in mind i have a 180 thermostat. so it goes up to about the half way mark from the 1/4. now it will stay that way for about 5 minutes. wont go any higher in temp. after about 5 minutes, the temp will go back down and the heat will come back. after parking it and letting it cool down, it needs some coolant. not like a whole jug but a decent amount.
so my guess is there is a pinhole either in the radiator or one of the hoses and its burning up before i notice a leak anywhere. so im going to try a pressure test and see what happens.
any other comments toward this recent discovery is more than welcome.

yep, when i was leaking coolant and could not find it the pressure test did the trick. had a very small hole by one of the clamps and when i was moving the hoses around while it was pressured up i found it.
I have a feeling its that tiny 3" hose on the front of the engine block. that one went out on my last camaro. and every 3.4 camaro i see, that little hose is always in bad shape.
anyone have an idea of how to do a cheap pressure test? maybe somehow seal a house hose to a car hose and turn the water on until something leaks? i cant find anyone with a pressure tester and cant take it to a shop. i need to save the money for whatever part i end up needing.
allot of the parts stores will rent one or let you use it. both require a deposit. water systems have pressure anywhere from 30 to 50 lbs. you dont want to be putting that kind of pressure on the cooling system.
alright. thank you for that. i drive a lot so i need to find the problem asap. this forum has to be the best. i searched other forums when looking for a similar problem and wow. they werent knowledgeable or kind.
