left one is cheaper...right one is faster STOCK.

be careful...you could start a flame war with LT1 vs. LS1...

Thats not what he said, He said you don't want to start that discussion. Its just my opinion but the LT1 is cheaper to start with and cheaper to built. You hit the (I have to do a complete engine upgrade to go any further) wall sooner in the LT1 then you do in the LS1. The LS1 starts out more money and the upgrades cost more but the stock bottom end will handle more power. If you are happy with 350-400 HP the LT1 is fine you can get there. The LT1 has two common issues the poorly designed Opti-Spark and blowing head gaskets. The head gasket can be a age thing. It is not uncommon to see 200K on either motor.

Left LT1 older design cheap to build
Right LS1 New design more head room for bolton HP.

If you are building an all out race car I don't think it matter which you start with.

Again its just my opinion.

I have a 95 z28 currently.
I got it instead of a 98-02 camaro:
it was cheaper, it is plenty fast (even compared to the LS1), and its nose doesnt look like a sebring's.
