So I finally got my 01WS6, something fast enough to blow about 80% of the cars in my area away, and it's pretty much stock. Yet for some reason when I get up next to you SS guys or a fellow WS6 nobody wants to run them. My only real race was against a T/A about the same year as mine. However, I'll wind up next to a Honda Civic or a Dodge Neon with some ridiculous wing and a fart can and suddenly they're acting like they can take me. I've even been beside a 6.0 GTO expecting to have my *** handed to me and all the guy does is nod compliment my car and take off like normal. So my question is, why in the hell are only the 4 bangers wanting to run against me. It seems that almost every time I get up next to a vehicle that can give me a good challenge or beat me, they just sort of just nod and say hi. Is it just a inferiority complex with these ricers or what? I'm looking to have some fun with this car but nobody seems game.

There aren't any decent tracks around here. The only one nearby seems to be more dangerous than running them on the street, from the several stories I've heard anyway.

 

ha, your not alone, thats way it is around here, theres two big street racing gangs in my area full of lil imports that think just cause the can match the sound of my lawn mower they're fast enough to get some real american power, me and my buddys used to have a thing goin called the american dream, and strictly american muscle only, but it kinda died down, but theres a couple of decent camaros firebirds and mustangs, but not many

 

I think the reason that the serious guys won't run you is that they are both realists and sane. Take that GTO: let's say its sitting there with a driver and passenger at the light, etc.: probably capable of 13.3 in the quarter. And your car, a stock WS6, is next to it, say, capable of 13.5 in the quarter as it sits there beside him. Do a little calculation (or just go to the track and watch) and you'll see that difference in time, at 110 mph (about what low to mid 13s means), isabout 32 feet, just slightly less thantwo F-body lengths, and most people won't give up in a street race until the distance is more than about five or six lengths and its becoming obvious who has won.

So, they're realists because they see that winning or losing would take a serious race: anything shorter proves nothing and just whets the appetite for another, longer, faster, more dangerousrace. And they are sane because they realize running long enough to put 5-6 lengths and settle it would take about 40 seconds run up well past 140 mph and be really dangerous for all concerned. As nickdotcom said: take it to the track.

As to the ricers with the fart mufflers: they're bored and want to be entertained. They know they're going to lose but at least they get a good show for 2-3seconds.

 

I agree with you lee most people see that. But around here winning is winning wether it is an inch or a mile. that is what i love about living here.

 

The only competition i had in my mustang was some hondas a GTI and a late 90s Impala SS clone with a Mr. T look alike behind the wheel.. which was easy to smoke..those 22s weighed him down... plus im sure he weighed over 250 pounds...

 

it's cuz only kids own imports, not the decent imports(supra, Z) the **** imports, and their hot headed, and thing adding 500 pounds of apperance helps win a race... i got plenty of kids at my school who think, and have tried, to take down my car.. and get pissed and throw fits and then, resort to the "well, your engine is bigger"... DUH! so, why try!? among these kids, theres a CRX, couple civics, tons of every gen eclipse, 2 or 3 tuner mustangs, and of coarse the neons!

 

cant forget the 4 doornissan sentras with wings as tall as a sky scraper, lol thats how it is at my school too, only compition import at my school is a 93 rx7 twin turbo, thats about it round here competition wise in the world of imports, and the tuner mustangs and camaros, i wanna just go up and kick them in their *****, theres one kid at taco bell that drives a v6 mustang with an exhaust tip that i could stick my head in, and a wing that looks like it came of an airplane, and lets not forget that it can change ever color that ever existed, green purple blue yellow **** brown, i wish somebody could knock some since into these people
