Default OMG!?!

So I got my Magnaflow cat back the other day that I ordered from autoanything.comand took it down to a shop (it wasn't the most professional shop in the worldbecauseit was the cheapest quote Ifound soI don't know how knowlegable they were)to have it installed and the guys told me that I was sent the wrong S pipe. Apparently the S pipe I was sent doesn't have a hole for the CO2 sensor that comes right after the cat.. But I talked to a guy at work that's pretty car savvy and he told me it might be fine without it. I haven't talked to the people from autoanything yet because their cust. service is closed on the weekend but before I send it back does anyone know if it's fine to have it put on without the CO2?

Its not a CO2 sensor but an O2 sensor, and yes, you will need it if you don't want your SES light on all the time. Not real sure on how missing that one sensor will affect the engine though.

It doesn't affect engine performance. All that sensor does is monitor cat performance. It's not that hard for them to remove the sensor bung from the old pipe and install it on the new system. I probably wouldn't go back to them, if they didn't think of that already...

I agree with Stan, it sounds like you should find a new shop if those guys can't figgure out how to weld in an O2 bung. You'd think the shop would have O2 bungs around since they are an exhaust shop. You could also consider getting an O2 sim so the SES light doesn't come on if you do install it, but if you can return it and get the correct system that'd probably be the best course of action.

Yeah I live in Tempe AZ and I just took it into a shop in mesa that only 1 out of the 3 guys spoke understandable english. 80 bucks to have it installed was the best I found anywhere. I'm just going to take it down to a Midas next weekend. Thanks for the info guys.

Bro don't go to Midas they will jack you on the price. They tried to charge me $350 just to install a cat on my v6 Maro!! If you need someone to translate most of it for you I can do that.If you go back to the julio shops that is. Haha! I live in El Mirage AZ but I'm in Phoenix all the time. If I knew how to install exhaust I'd just tell you to come down but I never have. Is this a bolt on or does it need to be welded?

The system is going to be bolt-on, but his problem is with the O2 bungs. He needs aft-cat O2 bungs for his OBDII car, so if you can weld bungs so he can install the O2 sensors you'd be fine. Otherwise he's going to have to return it and get a new system.

Today I called Magnaflow directly to find out from exactly what to do. The guy I talked to confirmed I had the right system. He explained to me that there are two different versions of the 99 V6 camaro.. 1 having an O2 after the cat and 1 not. He said Magnaflow only makes the S pipe that doesn't have the O2 sensor. He told me that I can go to a place that knows how to put the O2 sensor on the S pipe. But he just recommended to not install the new S pipe and instead start at the next pipe back? He said "it wouldn't make a big difference in performance". What do you guys think about that?

O and Yeah it is a bolt on system. I looked at doing it myself but I don't have a saw to cut the old system out and I don't have a lift so it would be an even bigger pain in the *** to do it all on my back considering I'm 6'3" haha. Since you're in AZ what places do you recommend to have it installed?
