Default Oil on rear end

I was just looking under my car today and noticed the rear end is coated with oil, like there's been a leak or something. There aren't much drop marks in my parking spot but there are a few small ones right in the center and towards the rear of my car.

Just another thing to add to the TO DO list...
Where do I start troubleshooting for a possible leak?

Thanks!

IS the rear differential wet? Is it motor oil or differential fluid? If the differential is wet, then its differential fluid. Pull the diff cover off, drain the fluid, remove old gasket and scrape off its remnants, get new gasket and fluid.

Could also be a leaky pinion seal. Look at the tunnel area, right above the rear yoke, and see if it looks like it's been slung with oil. If that's what's leaking, and you plan on tackling the job, ask here first before you remove a single nut. Another possibility is the rear diff vent could be clogged, building up internal pressure, and causing leaks where you normally wouldn't have any.

Well, if it's right at the diff cover, I'd safely assume the diff cover gasket. No other place around there that has oil

Ehe wearable potyion of the diff that would cause a leak is the pinion seal. Id be looking there with extra scrutiny.
