Default An oil question

I have a '94 Z28 Convertible and the top motor has leak, it's drained of fluid. I read that it needs a 10 weight SAE oil, would that mean 10w 30 motor oil would work in the pump? My dad thinks they mean just a straight 10 weight oil, I don't think they even make that. Thanks guys!

can you tell if it had transmission fluid in it before? is it red? if not i would think it would be hydraulic fluid. could be 10w motor oil if its made and if it is you dont want to mix it with trans fluid. call your local gm shop and ask em what is used.

The manual calls for tranny fluid but that was incorrect, GM issued a notice saying to use 10 weight SAE oil. The tranny fluid has additives that dry out the seqls on the o rings. The fluid in it before looked like oil, it def. wasn't red. But it all leaked out, the reservoir and pump were dry.
