Default Oil PSI on a 1995 Z-28?

Just purchased a 1995 Z-28 (LT1) for my wife last weekend. car has 23k original miles on it. One thing I noticed is at idle when warm, oil pressure runs about 20 on the guage. When i give it some gas, it jumps back up to about 40-50 on the guage. Is this considered normal? I have the LT1 in my wagon & it seems to stay consistantly around 60 idle, heavy on the foot, hot, cold doesn't matter. I also have the same guage cluster (Z-28) in the wagon as it has a tach, so I'm real familiar with the guages already. Just wondering if I should be concerned?

My '95 LT1 behaves similarly. I have heard that it is normal...

Can't really trust the factory gages. If the gage is reading right there is nothing to be worried about. Engines do not need a lot of oil pressure at idle. You just want to be sure you have good oil and a good filter. Friends don't let friends buy Fram.

Thanks guys! I didn't think there was. It will be getting Mobil-1 5-30 Synthetic with a good filter (Not Fram) change soon!! That's what I run in the wagons LT1.

Mine usually does a 20 psi at start up and idling. Around town it stays 45-55 range. That's with 123k miles and 10W-40 oil and two gauges. Ditto on what Gorn said. Fram is a no-no now a days.
