Default oil pressure gets to high

Im not sure if this is normal or not but my oil pressure gets up to the 80 psi mark when i rev it. the fist video is a little after i first started the car and the second is after i drove it a while the oil pressure dosnt get that high when it warms up but still seems like the pressure shouldnt be getting that high.

im currently running 6 qrts of 5w-30 royal purple with only about 88,000 miles on the car. does anyone know why it might be getting that high?

First, you should only have 5 quarts in it, so you're 1 quart too full.

Second, oil pressure is based of clearances between the bearings and crank/rods. I would verify your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. Otherwise, 80psi isn't bad.

My Jeep holds at 60 psi constantly, our Satellite holds at 80psi and has jumped to 95ish before. Both my Camaro's sit around the 45-50 mark.

I stand corrected. LS1's are 5.5 quarts.

If it just started doing this randomly, I would test the oil pressure sensor to make sure it's not faulty.

look the wires over that go to the pressure sensor and check/change oil pressure sensor/switch. did pressure just go up or has it been that way? what kind of oil has been used before? oil pumps are a weak point on the ls engine so keep an eye on it.

I'm not sure what the guy before me used. I just bought the car a few months back. Ima change the oil pressure sensor and see if that fixes it. I'm pretty sure it's been doin this but I just noticed it.

mine goes to max every once in a while. i think its the sensor. had to change it once already. i think the heat from exhaust is whats so hard on mine. not sure but i think yours is not so close, behind intake.

make sure you get the ac delco replacement. i snapped mine on my 2002 3800 series 2 and bought the 20 dollar duralast one and the sensor was reading max on the cluster gauge.. mostly oil pressures of 90-120 consistently even though I knew the pressure wasnt that high.

In video, oil pressure shown appears normal - cold engine, cold oil, and 4K-5K RPMs.
Yes, it will peg the meter.

On my SS, once warm, 40-55 showing, never lower than 40 at hot idle, 1600 rpm interstate, 50-55.

Ur probably right I haven't been driving it much lately cause it needs a clutch. But I'm going to keep a eye on it. I don't remember my other ls1 camaro doing that.
