Default Oil Gauge

Hi guys,
Thanks to all for the assistance in getting the manual for my 1997 camaro.
I am back again with another issue.
I realize that the oil gauge in the dash is in red but when I check the oil level with the deep stick, it shows that the oil is full.
What could be the problem? Is it that the oil should be changed or is there another issue. The check gages light is on as well.

Any help will be appreciated

The car has aan oil prfessure gage and a low oil light. The gage shows oil pressure, not oil level. If the gage is in the red, either the gage is bad or there is no oil pressure, which is extra bad. Check the oil pressure with a mechanical test gage.
If the level light is on and the dipstick shows full, then the light is lying.
