Have a '99 SS with LS6 heads. Looking for opinions on type of oil (synthetic or a blend) and brand to use. Thanks!

 

My 99 Corvette recommended Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5W-30. I would assume same engine, same oil recommendation.

I would buy a five quart jug at Costco and then a single quart some place else. (Usually some place that would accept used motor oil)

 

I too use Mobil 1 in all my cars, I prefer the synthetics.
GM recommended Mobil 1 for my LT1 C4 Vette, plus that's what they put in the engine when new.

 

I like Amsoil

honestly, buy whatever you feel you must. if you want to say you run Amsoil then buy it

If you want to change your oil every 5k miles and use dino oil then go for it


me, I change the oil in all my vehicles every 5k miles (mixed driving) using conventional

I have been doing that probably longer than you are old and have never ever ever had issues

FWIW, I've personally put over 2 million miles on vehicles (not commercial either) and that does not take into account my wifes cars through the years or now my kids

Oh boy an oil thread! Everyone has their own opinions on what's a good oil, fanboys if you will. I like Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w-30, and as for filter also mobil 1.
