Default Odd ball 93 Camaro

I noticed this the other day when I was looking at other 93 Camaro's. First off, on my shift indicator, there is no number for 1st gear. You can shift down to 1st...but there's no number and no spot for the orange indicator.

Second, all my guages have a ugly yellow hue to them where else all of the one's I've seen have a white hue to it.

And thirdly, I do not have a 150mph speedometer like most others, but instead a 115. I'm assuming this is something they switched mid year.

Any one know why any of this is the way it is?

The yellow hue I cant explain because it might be a year thing, the 115 doesnt seem off because you never mentioned whether you have a Z28, an RS or what(? the number must of rubbed off from from 1st gear age as well; age can take a toll on these cars

the 93 are unique, only 4th gen with yellow lettering and numbers. very hard to find replacement dash parts that will match. you have a base model, this is why your shifter and speedo are the way they are, base model is not made to go faster than 115. not sure why they did the shifter thing but thats a base model thing to as far as i know.

Sorry. Forgot to mention it is a Z28.

Craby, are you sure that it's a 93 thing? I've seen a few 93 V6's and V8's at car shows that had white lettering.

iLL95, I thought at first that maybe it rubbed off too, but when I redid my carpeting, I inspected it for that. But like I said, there's not even a little clear dash where the orange indicator goes for it. It's like they didn't put it in there because they didn't want you to know you could go down to first gear!

So the 115 speedo is right for the LT1? Seems a little dumb for a V8 pushing almost 300hp.

The yellow is definitely a 93 thing, I remember a few complaining about it in the LED how-to thread.

you better check your production numbers, sounds like you have one thats been switched from v6 to lt1. yep 93 has yellow letters and numbers. its easy to switch to another gauge cluster to get white. those parts are easy to find. yellow is not.

Went ahead and checked the VIN number and my car is correct to have the LT1 (8th digit is a P). There were only two previous owners. The guy I bought it off of, and a friend of his. I remember asking him if he or his friend ever did anything to the car. He did nothing and his friend had added the CAI and attempted to paint the seats...that was it. I'll add pics of the shifter plate to this post as well.

Well, I guess I'll check ebay and my local junk yard for white guages and the like. I was planning on doing red LED's in my car and I'm not sure how well they'd go with the yellow hue.

First photo is of the car in 1st gear. Second photo is 2nd gear and you can see the orange indicator which is hidden when in first gear.
