No 6th gen???
maybe this isnt the first time that this question has been posted but i have not been able to find it if it has been.
If im not mistaken the 5th gen was 1998 to 2002 (or maybe it was to 2003) but either way that would make the 2010 consept the 6th gen not the 5th gen would it not? please correct me if im wrong
im getting this question from the different threads. it says the 5th gen is the 2010 cansept is the 5th gen.

i am revising my previous statement
in the "sub forum" "fourth gen" it shows the 4th gen as 1993 to 2002 i thought the 4th gen was 1993 to 1997 then the 5th gen was 1998 to 2002 and the new consept is going to be the 6th gen? maybe im wrong but im pretty sure the body style changend between 1997 and 98' (ie the head lights arent under the hood anymore)

all cars 93-02 are 4th gens. In 98 the front bumper, hood, and quarter panels were revised to fit the LS1. Other than that the rest of the car (body-wise) is the same (aside from a couple minor things, like tail-lights). You can take a 93-97 car and switch the front end with a 98-02 car and aside from the couple minor things, not really know the difference. So, all 93-02 cars are 4th gens, and the 2010 Camaro will be a 5th gen.
Well they're wrong
Like Bill said, they're pretty much the same. Based on the same exact chassis, all the same dimensions etc. It's not a big enough difference to consider it a different generation.

a cars generation is typically determined by its platform. the 93-02 all share the same chassis. its not uncommon for automakers to change some of the body work on cars or engine options mid generation ie the 2nd gens have and early and late style depending on the chrome trim on the front. im not a camaro historian, but i believe every generation we have had has an early and late look that is distinct
awesome, thanks for that info you all just saved me from looking like a complete idiot in a conversation lol
i dont know about the whole 3rd gen thing, they have a pretty mean stance to them i kind of like that about them but thats just an opinion i can also see where people would think it looks way too boxy.
